July 09 , 2021

A clean windshield is essential for a safe driving experience. If there is no clear driving vision, traffic accidents are more likely to occur. In order to keep your windshield clean, your windshield wipers need to work properly.

However, sometimes your windshield wipers does not work properly. Why? Below 5 reasons may give you some ideas.

1.Your wiper blade is damaged. If the rubber refill on the wiper blade is broken, the gap of the rubber refill will trap additional dirt, which can easily scratch your windshield. Besides, broken rubber refill cannot be completely attached to the windshield to remove moisture or debris. At this time, it is recommended to replace the damaged rubber refill or wiper blade immediately.

2.The windshield wipers have snow and ice. Indeed, the wiper can remove a small amount of snow on the windshield, but before the wiper works, you'd better need to use a snow brush to remove the snow. The weight of wet snow is likely to cause the wiper to bend, the wiper arm to jump or peel off the pivot, and the wiper motor or gearbox is damaged. If you live in an area that experiences heavy snow, winter wiper is a good choice.

3.The wiper motor is malfunctioning. As an electrical component, it is normal for a short circuit or accidental exit and needs to be replaced. In this case, the wipers cannot work at all. You may need go to the auto repair shop to get a new wiper motor.

4.The wiper fuse was blown. If the wiper motor is overloaded, it is not the motor but the fuse that burns first because the fuse is the weak link in the wiper circuit. If the fuse is blown out, please check the cause of the motor overload. In addition, heavy snow on the wiper or the wiper arm being hooked by something can also cause the fuse to blow. Please remove the obstruction and replace the fuse. If you still can’t solve the problem, please ask a professional to check it.

5.The wiper pivot nut is loose. Both the wiper arm and the wiper blade are connected to the wiper transmission device and the wiper arm through a nut on the pivot. If the nut is a bit loose, this is normal because the wiper motor rotates the pivot, but the wiper arm will not move. If only one wiper is working properly, please check if the nut is tightened. Otherwise, ask a professional to check and repair it for you.

Hope this information can help you solve the problem. If you are not sure, it is best to go to a local professional auto repair shop and have a professional check it for you.
